Does Pax Autocratica have co-op?

Short answer · Co-op or multiplayer

No. The game is single-player only, and online co-op is planned with no date.

What the two primary sources actually say

Exactly two published sources from the developer touch on co-op. Neither promises a mode, a date, or a party size. Here they are in full, so you can judge the wording yourself.

1. The Early Access questionnaire

Asked how the full version would differ from the Early Access version, Multiverse wrote:

We plan to add more content across both the colony and combat sides of the game, and co-op is one of the major features we hope to develop during Early Access. Player feedback will help us decide which parts of the game deserve the most attention, and trust me, we already have a very looong list of ideas.Source, primary tier: "What the developers have to say": the Early Access questionnaire, published by Multiverse, via the Steam store page. The operative phrase is hope to develop. That is weaker than a commitment and considerably weaker than a date.

2. The Early Access roadmap

The roadmap graphic published with the launch announcement lists, under Planned Features, the entry:

Online Co-Op

That is the entire entry. No player count, no version number, no quarter, no ordering.Source, primary tier: Official Early Access roadmap graphic, published by Multiverse, via the Steam store description. Opens in a new tab. The roadmap closes with:The specific content we develop, as well as the order in which it is released, may be adjusted based on player feedback.Source, primary tier: Official Early Access roadmap graphic, published by Multiverse, via the Steam store description. Answers to the follow-up questions

Is there local or split-screen co-op?

No, and the roadmap is specific about this: the word used is online.Source, primary tier: Official Early Access roadmap graphic, published by Multiverse, via the Steam store description. Opens in a new tab. Nothing in any source describes couch play.

Is there PvP, or any competitive mode?

No. No PvP mode exists and none appears anywhere on the roadmap. The store page carries aPvE tag and no PvP tag.Source, primary tier: Pax Autocratica on Steam (store page), published by Valve / Multiverse. Opens in a new tab. The only multiplayer intent the developer has published is co-op.

Can I share a save or play with a friend some other way?

Not as a shared session. The game does support Steam Cloud and Family Sharing,Source, primary tier: Steam storefront appdetails API, appid 1067360, published by Valve. Opens in a new tab. but Family Sharing lets someone else play your copy; it does not let two people play together.

What about the Prologue?

Pax Autocratica: Prologue was single-player only too, and it is no longer on sale: its Steam page now says it is no longer available on the Steam store.Source, primary tier: Pax Autocratica: Prologue on Steam, published by Valve / Multiverse. Opens in a new tab.as of 2026-08-11

Will co-op come to consoles?

There is no console version to bring it to. The game is Windows-only, and Multiverse has not announced PlayStation, Xbox or Switch versions.Source, primary tier: Steam storefront appdetails API, appid 1067360, published by Valve. Opens in a new tab.

How much weight to put on a roadmap entry

This is the part worth thinking about before you buy for a feature that is not in the game. The roadmap is a statement of intent that explicitly reserves the right to change, and this particular app has a long, checkable public record on how its stated timelines have held up. Between 2019 and 2026 the same store page advertised six different release dates before shipping.Source, archive tier: Wayback Machine CDX index for store.steampowered.com/app/1067360, published by Internet Archive. Opens in a new tab.

None of that makes co-op unlikely. It does mean that buying now in expectation of co-op is buying on a hope with no date, which is a different decision from buying the game that exists today. We laid the record out in full on the name and release history page, and the buying question specifically onwhether to buy now or wait.
